Having decided to search for the girls, at least for now, you continue down the street, senses alert for anything out of the ordinary. For quite a while, everything seems as it should be, but intuition or a hunch tugs your forward, first down this street, then around that corner, and so on, until you've wandered clear into the next neighborhood.

The night air carries sound rather well, and it isn't more than a couple minutes into the adjacent neighborhood when you hear the unmistakable sounds of a fight. Senses fully extended, you navigate your way through the sidestreets and alleys until you're close enough to observe.

It's the four girls - one in red, one in blue, one in green, one in white - slightly outnumbered, and facing off against four 'monsters.' Each of the monsters is a little different, but they seem designed to mimic the girls. There's one in a red, rubbery catsuit with a classic demon tail and wings, but where her legs should be, her body dissolves into a whirl of smoke and fire. There's what seems to be a living ice scupture of a warrior princess - a bit slow, but still movable. There's one that appears to be an anthropomorphic rosebush, bristling with thorn. The fourth appears as motes of light swirling in a vaguely girl- shaped cloud of mist. And though there's only four of the magical girls, there's a fifth opponent - a girl who appears to be a life-sized, living porcelain doll in a black and white Chinese dress, but with her left hand replaced by an elaborately patterned battle fan.. the ebon spikes jutting from elbows and knees look like they mean business as well.

While you meant to find the girls, you're not so certain you wish to stay and watch a fight. After all, you just barely escaped from one not that very long ago. It could be dangerous if one of the monsters detects you. Then again, there are four girls and five monsters, perhaps you should see if you can lend a hand, even if it isn't much you can at least help to even the odds. And the relatively practical part of your mind suggests that you stay hidden and watch, and then talk to the girls afterward.
